Why I’m ditching “Rey”

For those of you who have followed me (on any of my social media platforms) or know me in person, you know that I have used my nickname “Rey” for my content. It’s been a long time coming in my head to ditch it. It was confusing to people who didn’t know the nickname. People wanted to credit me as “Rey Music.” (My old username-still the url for this site is reymusick. UPDATE: imcoryscott.com updated) I was reluctant at first to the change. I didn’t want to be like that band on Parks & Recreation-[Click here] if you’re unsure of what I’m talking about. Basically, I didn’t want to confuse anyone with a “name change.” While it’s smart to brand oneself and maintain a continuity throughout your creations and content, this feels more natural and normal to me. It’s not that Rey is a fake name or something like that. However, the nickname may have been a stepping stone for me to really let those barriers down before I felt comfortable enough going with my legal name, Cory Scott. Which now will save a lot of hassle, and confusion.

I hope you will continue to stay with me as we move forward and create! 😀

As always, stay bright and much love,

If you’re feeling discouraged, I’d like you to stop that. Just stop. Now.

Having  moved back home after graduating college, it’s easy to feel discouraged during the job hunting phase…especially if you’ve gone from living on your own to back with the family. (Love them to pieces, but it’s nice having your own place.) Sometimes it’s also easy to feel discouraged by your geographical settings. I know seas of corn don’t exactly scream opportunity for myself, but for others it may! Your mind is also an infinite resource. 😀

Also, stop the comparison. Because your story isn’t going to be the same as anyone else’s and that is a beautiful thing.

If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.

-Milton Berle

Perhaps I’ve been motivated by some discussions with some great people whom I’m very lucky to call my friends, and some projects we’ll be working on together. (More details coming later! :P) But it’s important to know that inspiration can be everywhere and that opportunity is yours to create.

Chart your path, and execute your dreams. Take no prisoners. Love,

Project: Latex Dress

I know I’ve been obsessing over this latest video project I’ve been working on, so much so that I’m attempting to make a latex dress for the video shoot! The whole video is a concept of liberating yourself, finding empowerment through fashion, and celebrating yourself. Last night I got to try a fitting with my friend (& model for the shoot!) and she’ll be wearing a latex dress that I’m making! She asked if there was a sketch or something she could look at, and for once I’m doing it all by mental imagery. (Sometimes my hands don’t draw what I see in my mind, XD, so hopefully they can just make the finished product!)

Here is where it’s at so far; basic steps. However, I’ll hopefully be finishing it up today after I get more materials!

In the studio and with a clean backdrop, I think this will turn out beautifully! I can’t say exactly what inspired this, other than a collection of imagery in my head as well as some Fall 2014 RTW runway pieces; that and imagining my model wearing it. You can find the finished product in my video coming out soon! (Not the one for this week on my channel lol! >_<) Let me know what you think in the comments below!
